For Sale: Patria A Norfolk 14ft One Design Dinghy

Patria is a Norfolk 14ft One Design Dinghy Class, a traditional sailing dinghy designed for the Norfolk Broads in the United Kingdom. She is clinker-built, varnished mahogany (NZ Kauri) construction and has a gunter rig. Patria was constructed by my father Bob Tillett and launched in New Zealand in 1990. A new custom made trailer was purchased for her from Hoskings Trailers for $4,000 prior to being exported in 2021. She has been re-rigged with up to date dyneema and has a new Huon pine boom. She also has a brand new jib purchased from Doyle Sails. So aside from needing a good re-varnish, she is ship-shape.

Key Features:

Construction: Traditional, clinker-built mahogany (Kauri) on oak construction, varnished to a high standard.
Rigging: A gunter rig is used, which is a type of sail rig where the boom is attached to the mast and the sail is hoisted up the mast rather than along the boom.
Size: She is 14 feet (4.27 meters) in length.
Purpose: Designed for sailing and racing on the Norfolk Broads, a network of waterways in Norfolk, England.
History: The class has a long history, with the first boats built in 1931, and they are still sailed today.
Trailer: Custom built by Hoskings Marine (Registered in WA)

For Sale – Cadet Dinghy ‘Thermopylae’  $10,000

Brought to Perth from Brighton Yacht Club about 20 years ago and extensively and beautifully restored by Chris Bowman at C Shed. The age of Thermopylae is not known but the form of ‘knee joints’ on the gunnel apparently indicates around 1920. She has been sailed casually with young family members and raced successfully several times in Old Gaffers races. The picture shows it sailing at RFBYC with junior crew late last year as part of a project to record the history of the class. Thermopylae is the only Cadet Dinghy sailing in WA. Sails and centre board included.
