History

Hakuna Matata was built by Chris Bowman in Bicton to his own design and owned by him until acquired by the present owner in 1998. She was originally moored on Blackwall Reach. Her electric motor was installed in 2002 and she moved to a pen at Pier 21 Marina to access shore-power for recharging, and then to RFBYC in 2012.

Her rig is designed to permit her to pass under the Fremantle bridges under sail, with the gaff lowered only to transit the railway bridge.

Her rig was modified in 2014 with lengthened bowsprit and gaff and new sails.
