Contributing

A wiki is a website designed to be collaboratively edited by multiple people to produce some kind of knowledge base. I am not sure if this will actually happen here, but here's hoping!

The simplest way to contribute information about a ramp is to send me an email at peter.kovesi@gmail.com. Just email me a basic description of the ramp with any comments you might have, and attach pictures if you have them. I can then readily add your material to the wiki.

Similarly, if you have any corrections, updates, or extra comments to add to any of the entries don't hesitate to send an email.

Cheers

If you are keen and are prepared to have a go at editing the wiki directly yourself read on…

Wikis use a simple markup language that allow you to create and edit pages readily without having to know html. This wiki is run using DocuWiki . This is a simple but well regarded wiki system.

A description of the DocuWiki's markup can be found here and you can pick your way through the manual as well. I acknowledge this can be a bit intimidating to work through at first. I am happy to demonstrate how you edit the wiki at any OGA meeting and you will see that it is actually quite simple. It is also quite safe as one can undo any changes going back over 7 days.

To get a feel for what the raw markup is for any page click on the 'Page' icon at the to of any of the wiki pages and select 'Show pagesource'. This will show you how the pages of the wiki are written. Click on the 'Page' icon again to go back to the original page display.

However, I appreciate picking your way through software manuals is not for most people. If this is the case, but you want to contribute, just send me some text in an email with any pictures as attachments and I can readily add the material for you.

If you want a user account in order to edit and create entries, or just to experiment, please email me at peter.kovesi@gmail.com
